Have you ever noticed that as a whole, North Americans eat a lot, but also waste a lot? We grow all this food only to throw it out. On top of food waste, we're also really good at wasting our money. I'm not proud to have been one of these people. I decided to partake in a $40 food challenge to help trim my waste and waist.
Before starting the challenge, I did a fair bit of searching online to see what other people are doing. I found a lot of great tips, but much of the food they bought with their $40 was packaged and processed. I'm interested in saving a dollar, but I'm not about to sacrifice healthy fresh food to do it. It's an ongoing struggle, but I'm committed to finding a way to eat healthily without straining budget.
Every so often, I'll be posting about the tips & tricks I've learned to help keep my spending under control and minimize my waste. You'll see recipes I've tried and ideas I've found that are worth sharing.
If you're considering doing a similar challenge, take a look around my blog to help you get started. Pinterest has a lot of great resources too and I've pinned a few to my culinary adventures board. It is possible to be healthy without blowing your budget!
